In view of the energy price crisis and the increased demand for stoves and fireplaces, the energy advisory service of the consumer center has compiled important aspects for dealing with them. For example, it points out that every fireplace must be approved by a chimney sweep. If this does not happen, there is an increased risk of flue gas poisoning and fires, according to the consumer center.
In addition, users should learn about the correct heating. Logs must dry over a longer period of one to two years before they can be used. If this does not happen, they not only heat worse, according to energy advice from the consumer center, but also release any number of environmental pollutants during combustion.
Stoves and fireplaces are also associated with soot, pollutants and fine dust pollution. Anyone wishing to purchase a stove or fireplace should therefore obtain comprehensive information in advance and can, for example, choose a model with a dust and fine dust filter that is certified according to the criteria of the "Blue Angel" eco-label.
