This is pointed out by the FMI Fachverband Mineralwolleindustrie. For the basement conversion, however, owners should consider various aspects in advance, namely the building physics, the structural specifications and the possibilities for thermal insulation. In addition, they should inform themselves about the costs.
For the project, for example, it is important that the basement and the building components are dry. If this is the case, further planning can take place. However, legal aspects must also be taken into account. For while the hobby room can usually be realized on one's own, the construction of a basement apartment requires, among other things, the obtaining of a building permit in advance.
Also a thermal insulation of the soil and the cellar walls should take place according to the professional association with the development, among other things for the protection against rising humidity. The trade association points out in this connection that there are state support measures for thermal insulation. Apart from the thermal insulation owners can think if necessary also about an impact sound insulation. This is because noise can also be transmitted from the cellar to other floors, for example from a spinning washing machine.
