Insulation: KfW points out funding opportunities

KfW points out which aspects owners must pay attention to when insulating facades and providing sun protection with regard to funding opportunities. For example, the application for subsidies must be submitted before construction companies and tradesmen are commissioned. Contracts for planning, on the other hand, can be awarded in advance, for example to energy efficiency experts.

In addition, when insulating detached or semi-detached houses, for example, owners must refer to the Building Energy Act (Gebäudeenergiegesetz, GEG) to find out how efficient it must be and determine what type of insulation should be used. According to KfW, a distinction is made between core or blown-in insulation, a thermal composite system and a ventilated curtain wall.

Solar shading can also be subsidized by KfW if owners comprehensively renovate their house to make it more energy efficient. To do so, however, they must meet the requirements for an Efficiency House 85 or Efficiency House Monument, according to KfW. Owners who would like to find out more about the funding options will find what they are looking for at kfw.de.
