Engineering award: Light rail bridge in Stuttgart-Degerloch honored

At a recent ceremony, the German Engineering Award 2022 was presented to the office "sbp - schlaich bergermann partner" from Stuttgart for the light rail bridge in Stuttgart-Degerloch. "The winning project, the light rail bridge in Stuttgart Degerloch, is characterized by an imaginative design that strengthens public transport in a major city," said Federal Minister of Construction Klara Geywitz in advance. The German Engineering Award is endowed with 30,000 euros.

In addition, ifb frohloff staffa kühl ecker from Berlin for their bicycle parking garage as a wooden structure in Eberswalde, Konstruktionsgruppe Bauen AG from Kempten for the restoration of the listed stamped concrete bridge/Illerbrücke in Illerbeuren and Prof. Feix Ingenieure GmbH from Munich for the reinforcement in block 34 of the Altstadtringtunnel Munich during ongoing traffic were also awarded 5,000 euros each. A recognition of 3,000 euros was awarded to the planning consortium Lechsteg, Mayr Ludescher Partner and DKFS Architects for the Lady-Herkomer-Steg in Landsberg am Lech.

The German Engineering Award is a state prize and, according to the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction, is considered the most important prize for civil engineers in Germany.
