There will be some innovations in the energy sector in 2023. The energy advice service of the consumer advice center provides information about these. Among other things, consumers should keep the energy efficiency regulations for new buildings, the capping of energy prices and the promotion of energy-saving investments on their radar. For example, stricter requirements for new buildings in terms of primary energy demand will apply from 2023.
In addition, there will be a gas price brake and an electricity price brake for private households and small and medium-sized enterprises. From March 2023 to April 2024, the gas price is to be capped at 12 cents per kilowatt hour. The electricity price will be capped at 40 cents per kilowatt hour under the electricity price brake. However, this cap only applies to the basic requirement of 80 percent of the previous year's consumption.
Anyone wishing to implement energy-saving measures and have them subsidized should check in advance whether they are actually eligible for subsidies. For example, in the future only heating systems that are operated on the basis of at least 65 percent renewable energy will be subsidized.
