Economy: Hubs for more sustainability

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft aims to promote the circular economy by introducing so-called Circonomy® hubs. These networks, spread across Germany, aim to develop systemic and technical solutions for sustainable production and consumption. They bring together stakeholders from science, business, associations and society to focus on a specific area. Two such hubs have already begun their work: "Material cycles in the construction sector" and "Circular Carbon Technologies CCT".

The hubs are intended to address the lack of coordination and networking in the circular economy. Through targeted and coordinated cooperation in specific subject areas, they are intended to promote the transition to the circular economy. Each hub is dedicated to a specific thematic focus and promotes the circular economy in this area.

The "Material cycles in the construction sector" hub, for example, focuses on the coordination of physical development centers and the establishment of an implementation network that addresses the challenges of recycling construction products. The "Circular Carbon Technologies CCT" hub focuses on the coupling of energy and raw material processes.
