The federal government is providing 200 million euros for climate adaptation in urban areas. Cities and municipalities have until Friday, 15 September to submit their projects for the targeted development and modernization of parks, green spaces and open spaces for the federal programme "Adaptation of urban areas to climate change".
The federal program aims to improve the urban climate and is already entering its fourth round. Since 2020, 676 million euros have already been made available from the Climate and Transformation Fund (KTF) for more climate resilience in cities and municipalities.
The Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR) is responsible for implementing the program. Interested cities and municipalities can find all the requirements at bbsr.bund.de/klima-raeume. The funding projects are expected to be discussed by the Budget Committee of the German Bundestag from December.
