Proper watering and the use of drought-resistant grass varieties are key to maintaining gardens in rising temperatures. The portal "schoener-wohnen.de" points this out. Garden owners do not have to put up with a yellow-brown lawn, but can maintain a green lawn even at temperatures above 30 degrees with suitable measures.
High temperatures and little rain can cause lawns to lose their color and appear dry and thatchy. This is a natural reaction to save resources. Nevertheless, it is possible to restore the lawn to its green state. Among other things, the portal recommends watering the lawn early in the morning or late in the evening with around 15 to 20 liters of water per square metre as well as mowing, fertilizing and scarifying.
Garden owners can also opt in advance for drought-resistant grass varieties such as fescue turf, bluegrass, Bermuda turf, zoysia turf or sheep's fescue. These types of grass are particularly suitable for extreme weather conditions. Alternatively, wildflower meadows with drought-loving plants can also be an option.
