Building a house: the hidden costs

Additional costs can be incurred when building a house. This is described by a couple on the website "wirbaueneinhaus.info". The couple originally started with a cost forecast of around 730,000 euros in 2022. However, the actual expenses later increased by almost 54,000 euros. This was due to various miscalculated or unexpected costs.

As a result, the land charge fees increased to around 1,100 euros. The builders had not considered that the fees are based on the amount of the registered land charge. In addition, they had to pay application fees of around 2,800 euros, which were not originally taken into account. There were additional costs of around 2,500 euros for the garage and additional costs of around 13,500 euros for additional features due to individual wishes and construction requirements.

Earthworks caused a particularly high and unexpected cost increase of around 36,000 euros due to a slope and an extensive extension area. The slope required the installation of an expensive lifting system and additional earthworks for the garage, carport and terrace. Nevertheless, the couple were able to save around 1,500 euros on the surveying work. The couple would like to help future builders by disclosing the figures.source: wirbaueneinhaus.info
