Satisfaction with the housing situation depends largely on home ownership. This is the result of a survey commissioned by immoverkauf24 and ImmoScout24. The survey shows that homeowners are happier with their homes than tenants. Gender also plays a role in this context: women who live in their own home feel particularly satisfied.
Of those surveyed, 38% consider their current living situation to be satisfactory. The biggest burdens are high ancillary costs (22 percent), high rents (15 percent), lack of space (14 percent), noise (13 percent) and difficulties with neighbors (11 percent). Cinja Kinnemann, Managing Director of immoverkauf24, comments: "The majority of Germans are currently dissatisfied with their current living situation. People are particularly concerned about the rising costs of heating and hot water.
However, while only 37% of tenants are satisfied, this figure rises to 43% among homeowners. Almost half (49%) of women who own their own home are satisfied, compared to only 38% of men. Nevertheless, even homeowners are not free of worries: the costs of heating, insulation and other climate-related investments are the most common burdens, especially for men.
