As part of the "DGNB Sustainability Challenge 2023", the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) has recognized outstanding players in sustainable construction. Smarter Habitat impressed with "ecoHab", a building panel made from popcorn. The company STRAMEN.TEC scored with a dry construction system made from straw.
The Technical University of Berlin won the award with a sustainable rental apartment building using wood, brick and clay. ARGE ZRS Architekten and Bruno Fioretti Marquez as well as the Technical University of Braunschweig and the University of Stuttgart were also involved.
The DGNB also awarded two public prizes. One again went to STRAMEN.TEC. The second audience award went to the CARBOrefit innovation from Carbocon. This is a method using carbon concrete to maintain existing buildings and bridges that are difficult to renovate.
