The Efficiency House is a key standard that defines the energy efficiency of residential buildings in comparison to a reference building. Two important key figures play a role here: the total energy requirement of the building and the quality of the thermal insulation. These criteria can be used to assess a building in concrete terms.
Particularly noteworthy is the Efficiency House Level 40, which designates buildings that require only 40 percent of the primary energy of a reference building and have a lower transmission heat loss. Building owners who achieve such a standard and also meet the criteria for sustainability can benefit from promotional measures. KfW points this out.
In order to build such an efficiency house, various technical and structural aspects must be taken into account. These include, in particular, measures in the areas of heating, ventilation and insulation. The distribution of thermal insulation across the entire building envelope plays a central role here. The use of renewable energies is also of great importance. However, it is important to look at each building individually and create a customized overall energy concept.
