Skilled trades: ZDH President comments on the mood

The mood in the German skilled crafts sector is fragile. This is emphasized by Jörg Dittrich, President of the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH). Taxes, duties and documentation requirements are leading to a record-breaking burden on businesses. Investments and loans are falling at a time when they should actually be rising. "The future prospects are getting worse in all areas," says Jörg Dittrich.

In specific areas such as the sanitary, heating and air conditioning sector, there has also been a decline in order backlogs. The discrepancy between the actual situation and the transformation targets set is widening.

In residential and commercial construction, the current uncertainty is further exacerbating the negative trend. Unimplemented measures and short-term decisions such as the termination of KfW subsidies are exacerbating the situation. The ZDH President advises consumers to make private investments now, as no price reductions are to be expected due to the overall situation.
