Urban development: TU Braunschweig initiates future labs

To develop strategies against the challenges of climate change in urban areas, the Technische Universität Braunschweig has launched two new "Climate Future Labs" - the "Urban Climate Future Lab" and the future lab "Open Planning Cultures. Design Principles for Transformative Spaces". These future labs will research innovative solutions for climate-friendly urban development and work closely with other universities and external partners.

The laboratories investigate how different types of urban and rural settlements contribute to climate change. The research aims to develop transformative strategies and models that can be applied not only in Lower Saxony, but in urban regions worldwide to mitigate the effects of climate change and promote sustainability.

The projects have a multidisciplinary approach: they involve experts from the fields of architecture, urban planning, engineering, environmental sciences and other disciplines. Cooperation with cities and municipalities, industry and civil society is intended to ensure that the solutions developed are practical and tailored to people's needs. The "Climate Future Labs" are funded by the zukunft.niedersachsen program.
