Climate protection: energy savings through correct insulation

Effective insulation can contribute to climate protection and reduce energy costs. The German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) points this out. In its campaign "Zukunft Zuhause - Nachhaltig sanieren" (Future at home - sustainable renovation), it emphasizes that proper insulation ensures greater living comfort and preserves the value of properties all year round. Energy-efficient renovation measures are recommended in both summer and winter to improve quality of life and reduce heating and cooling costs.

Different insulation methods offer solutions for every part of the building, from basements to roofs. Roof insulation in particular is essential. Materials such as mineral wool, natural insulation materials, cellulose or hemp wool are used for this. The DBU recommends considering energy modernization when renovating exterior building components.

Owners can receive government grants and low-interest loans for appropriate measures such as comprehensive renovations and specific insulation. Energy consultants help owners to find the optimum insulation strategy. Energy advice can also be subsidized with funds from the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA).
