The energy consulting service of the consumer advice center provides tips on how owners and tenants can prevent the formation of mold through proper heating and ventilation. After showering, cooking or sleeping, the property should first be completely aired. After that, the consumer advice center's energy consulting service recommends tilting the windows open for another two to three hours.
In this way, so-called sorption moisture, which is also found in towels, mattresses and blankets, for example, can escape. If the owners or tenants close the windows again after the specified period, the energy loss is also limited. With this ventilation, the room drying effect is also greater than with three times shock ventilation.
The consumer advice center also recommends keeping the doors between the different living rooms closed. The reason for this is that different temperatures often prevail there and moist air should not get into cooler rooms. Because that could lead to mold growth.
