Many homeowners find it difficult to get energy-efficient renovations off the ground and implement them. This is the result of a snap survey conducted by the consumer protection association Wohnen im Eigentum (WiE), in which around 2,700 apartment owners took part.
The survey shows, among other things, that only 8 percent of the apartment owners surveyed know that they can pass renovation resolutions in their condominium owners' associations (WEG). The rest of the condominium owners do not feel informed about this (62 percent) or only partially informed (30 percent).
The homeowners surveyed apparently lack basic knowledge about passing resolutions and about the rules governing cost allocation in WEGs (70 percent). In addition, they would like special energy consulting services (69 percent) and subsidy programs for WEG (60 percent). Furthermore, homeowners need support in drawing up renovation and financing roadmaps (52 percent) and also consider legal advice on energy issues to be necessary (49 percent).
