Seminar: Adapt residential buildings to summer heat

How residential buildings can be adapted to the summer heat will soon be demonstrated by a further training course in Erfurt and Dresden. Under the motto "Heat adaptation in the housing stock: effective, cost-efficient, upgrading the stock", the Leibniz Institute for Ecological Spatial Development (IÖR) is offering corresponding seminars in cooperation with the Thuringian Housing and Real Estate Association and the Association of Saxon Housing Cooperatives.

Using the example of various building types that are widespread in central Germany, the speakers will show, on the one hand, what weak points the houses have and what effects long periods of heat can have on the indoor climate. On the other hand, they will present how the buildings can be adapted effectively, economically and in a climate-friendly manner - for example, through changes in the building structure or in building technology. They also talk about what residents can do on hot summer days to ensure that living spaces do not heat up so much.

The seminars are aimed at employees of cooperative and municipal housing companies who are responsible, for example, for construction planning, maintenance or property management. The seminar in Erfurt will be held on Thursday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Mitteldeutsche Fachakademie der Immobilienwirtschaft, Regierungsstraße 58. The registration deadline is Monday, May 9. The seminar in Dresden will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the premises of the Association of Saxon Housing Cooperatives, Antonstrasse 37. The cost of the seminars ranges from 60 to 190 euros.
