Saving energy: GDW provides tips

The GDW Federal Association of German housing and real estate companies recently published various tips on the topic of "saving energy". These include, among other things, lowering the room temperature. According to the Federal Association, temperatures of 20 to 22 degrees are sufficient during the heating period. If the apartment is aired, the heating should be turned off beforehand in order to save on energy costs.

In addition, it is better to ventilate the room several times a day than to leave the windows open for long periods of time. If it freezes, the period for the respective shock ventilation should be about 5 minutes. In the transitional period, this period of time increases to around 10 to 15 minutes. It should also be ventilated after getting up, before going to bed, after cooking and after showering.

According to the Federal Association, electricity can also be saved by switching off electrical appliances completely. This works best with power strips with a corresponding switch. Anyone who buys new electrical appliances should pay attention to the energy efficiency label. According to the federal association, energy-efficient devices can save more than 50 euros a year compared to older devices.
