According to the working group Die Moderne Küche (AMK), preparing food outdoors is becoming increasingly important. Interested parties can purchase outdoor kitchens in different variants. Among other things, you should make sure that these are made of weatherproof and UV-resistant materials and that the devices and accessories are designed for outdoor use. If the outdoor kitchen is not under a canopy, a cover hood is also recommended for the winter months.
Outdoor kitchens come in a variety of sizes and designs. According to AMK, either individual modules – often on castors for greater flexibility – are combined with one another or complete kitchen units or cooking islands are put together. The frames are usually made of stainless steel or aluminum. Materials such as ceramics, natural stone, composite materials or compact laminate are used for the worktops and cabinet fronts.
Those interested in purchasing an outdoor kitchen should be able to set it up on a solid and stable surface. For example, a natural stone or wooden terrace is an option. According to AMK, however, an unpaved meadow is unsuitable as a location for outdoor kitchens. The outdoor kitchens also feature fixtures and appliances such as a sink and refrigerator. According to AMK, interested parties should seek advice from experts in specialist shops on the water and electricity connections required for this.
