Building refurbishment: ZIA presents position paper

The Central Real Estate Committee (ZIA) has presented a position paper with proposals for the realignment of the federal subsidy for efficient buildings (BEG). According to the ZIA, among other things, the subsidy system should be consistently geared to CO2 savings. In addition, there must be an increased expansion of renewable energies in Germany.

Furthermore, the ZIA calls for a new funding landscape that is free of subsidies, just like the current BEG. If something is considered free of subsidies, applications for subsidies will be less complicated for applicants, as they will have to provide fewer details. In addition, the ZIA proposes to promote energy-efficient renovation of existing properties as well as efficient new construction. The aim of these measures is to reduce greenhouse gases.

In order to achieve the so-called climate-neutral building stock by 2045, the use of sustainable building materials is also important, according to the ZIA. For example, it is conceivable to promote local building materials that can be brought to the construction site without longer transport routes and thus contribute to saving C02.
