Real estate investors in Europe want to make their property portfolios more sustainable in the future. In Germany, 73 percent of the real estate investors surveyed plan to invest in the sustainable refurbishment of their portfolios, while in France the figure is 72 percent and in the UK 57 percent.
In addition, it is also important to them that the properties have an appropriate sustainability certificate. In France, 79 percent of real estate investors pay attention to this, in the UK 70 percent and in Germany 60 percent.
These and other findings emerge from Union Investment Real Estate GmbH's "Investment Climate Study II/2021: Real Estate Markets in the Sign of Transformation". A total of 150 real estate companies and institutional real estate investors in Germany, France and the UK were surveyed by market research institute Ipos between November 2021 and January 2022 for the study.
