Save energy with intelligent door and window contacts

Intelligent door and window contacts have a dual function: they protect against burglars and help save energy. This is because the small electromagnetic sensors are designed to detect whether the window or door to which they are attached is open or closed. Connected to a smart home system, the sensors emit a visual or acoustic signal if, for example, some or all of the windows have not been closed when leaving the apartment or house.

The smart door and window contacts also provide services in the area of heating and air conditioning control. If a window is open for too long, for example, the output of the heating in winter or the air conditioning in summer is automatically adjusted. The advantage is that no unnecessary energy is wasted. Last but not least, they also support the control of blinds and thus optimize the indoor climate. Some devices can even measure indoor and outdoor temperatures and humidity. With a weather station integrated into the smart home system, the sensors detect whether there is strong wind or rain, for example.

Smart door and window contacts are easy to install, because they are simply glued to the desired locations. A magnet is attached to the window sash, while the contact element is attached to the window frame. Via the smart home system, a mobile device displays via an app when these two elements come into contact. For more sophisticated devices, the system even indicates whether the window handle is locked or the window is merely closed, which can also happen, for example, due to strong wind. Thanks to their unobtrusive design, they do not interfere and blend in perfectly with the interior design.
