Digitization is also on the rise in the real estate industry. The anniversary edition of the study "Five Years of Digitization in the Real Estate Industry - What's Happened So Far ...", published by Zentralen Immobilien Ausschuss e. V. (ZIA) and EY Real Estate (Ernst & Young Real Estate GmbH) provides a review of the digitization process over the past five years as well as a listing of trends and future assessment of developments. Around 250 employees were surveyed for the annual and fifth edition of the digitalization study.
The content of the study is a compilation of opinions on the subject of digitization in the real estate industry. Employees from both private-sector companies and the public sector took part in the survey. In addition to the evaluation of the survey results, readers will find interviews with players from the German and international real estate industry who are active in the digital field. Among other things, they discuss digital trends and an assessment of the areas of the real estate industry in which the use of digital technologies has the greatest potential for optimizing corporate processes.
Around 26 percent of respondents see great potential in the area of property management, closely followed by asset management (19 percent) and facility management (15 percent). Here, the respondents see opportunities to reduce costs and improve processes through digitization. Other areas in which respondents see great potential are energy services, for example in connection with smart homes, in construction, and in portfolio management. Detailed results on various topics, such as which digitization phase the companies surveyed are in or what role digitization plays in the reduction of energies, can also be read in the study.
