Anyone who comes into possession of a plot of land and soon wants to build their dream house on it must first equip the plot with numerous house connections. Lines for electricity, water and wastewater as well as for gas and a telephone line must be applied for and laid promptly. It is important to include this item in the calculation, because the connections, together with the electricity and water costs during the construction phase, can quickly amount to several thousand euros.
Likewise, builders should make sure that the application for the lines also takes time. Anyone wishing to lay an electricity connection must first contact a network operator and inform him of the network access and submit an application for network laying. The network operator will provide information on the measures required at the site and authorize an electrician to lay the connections. With a suitable electricity provider and the conclusion of a grid usage contract, the property will be supplied with electricity in a timely manner.
When laying the water connection, make sure that access for both drinking water and fire water is laid. The local water supplier will provide information on the applicable regulations in the respective state and on where the nearest water connection is located. If there is no access nearby, it must be requested from the municipality. In the case of an initial connection, a separate application must also be submitted. The same applies to the connection of a sewer. Even though new buildings are nowadays mostly heated with renewable energy, there are builders and owners who choose to supply their property with gas. The application for a gas connection is made through the local utility company.
