The study "Modern Urban Quarters - Integrative Concepts with a Future" by Deutsche Hypothekenbank (Deutsche Hypo) deals with the trend of neighborhood development and the still growing demand for modern urban development concepts. Because of the high demand for affordable housing, especially in metropolitan areas and major cities, the asset class real estate enjoys great popularity and importance even during the Corona crisis.
Due to the blending of the living and working worlds, the increasing digitalization of work processes and everyday life, and the growing demands for climate protection, modern and sustainable urban development concepts and neighborhood development are arousing the interest of investors. In addition, according to Deutsche Hypo, low interest rates and an investment emergency are making real estate a highly attractive asset class on the investment market.
The study will define important terms of neighborhood development and explain the conceptual boundaries. A discourse on the historical development of urban neighborhoods will explain how modern neighborhood concepts have become established as an element of modern urban development. Likewise, the study shows how changes in urban space affect neighborhood development and presents several selected neighborhoods in Germany.
