Tip: paint walls correctly

Painting walls in the apartment or house is one of the most popular and most often carried out renovation work. But who paints his walls, should inform not only about the choice of color, but also about the substrate. Because the wall paint should always be matched with the texture of the wall, so that it also lasts in the long term and shines powerfully.

Many households usually use so-called dispersion paints to paint their walls. These are easy to apply and relatively inexpensive, because water or additives such as fillers or binders and solvents are added to the paint. When painted, the paint covers the wall like a sealant. A major disadvantage of emulsion paints is that they are not open to diffusion. If tight energy windows are installed in the property, mold growth is pre-programmed. This is because the walls in modern houses play an important regulatory role and need a wall paint that is open to diffusion to function properly.

Before painting, the wall plaster should also be checked. Depending on whether it chalks, sucks or sands, it must still be pre-primed accordingly. The priming color must also be coordinated with the wall paint. To achieve a homogeneous appearance of the wall paint, the cross-coat technique is particularly suitable. This is because "criss-cross" painting evenly combines the applied paint and ensures an even overall appearance.
