To increase the energy balance in his house or apartment and save costs, owners should review their heating systems. If the heating systems are outdated, they should be replaced with a modern and environmentally friendly heating system. Government subsidies, such as those from the Kreditbank für Wiederaufbau (KfW subsidy) or the Bundesamt für Ausfuhrkontrolle (BAFA subsidy), provide owners with financial support for modernization measures.
Anyone who wants to replace their old heating system with a new condensing boiler, local or district heating system or optimize their heating system can apply to KfW for a low-interest grant or a one-off loan. The prerequisite is that an expert energy consultant must approve the modernization or renovation measure. The application for KfW Program 43 can be submitted online via the KfW website. For a favorable loan from KfW Program 152, applicants should contact their bank.
In addition to the funding opportunities offered by KfW Bank, BAFA also provides funding for solar thermal, biomass or heat pump heating systems. Applications should be submitted directly to BAFA before the start of the conversion measures. An expert opinion is not required for this funding. The subsidies differ between a basic and additional subsidy for existing properties and an and innovation subsidy for new buildings. Applicants can find an overview of which makes are subsidized on the BAFA website.
