Building owners in Germany are to be able to submit their building applications digitally this year. Felix Pakleppa, Managing Director of the German Construction Industry Association (ZDB), welcomes this development. However, he is calling for mandatory guidelines.
By the end of 2023, more than half of the lower building supervisory authorities will have gone digital, according to the Federal Building Ministry. "This is definitely an important step in the digital direction. But there is still a long way to go," emphasizes Felix Pakleppa.
Currently, several federal states have introduced individual systems, which means a variety of platforms for builders and architects. The Managing Director believes it would be more beneficial if the federal states had agreed on a standardized system. He also calls for a binding specification as to when the digital building application will become mandatory for all federal states.
