At the second Photovoltaics Summit, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection Robert Habeck presented a strategy to strengthen photovoltaics. The strategy includes action plans in eleven areas, ranging from energy policy and securing skilled workers to technology development.
"Photovoltaics is one of the cheapest energy sources of all and is one of the most important power generation sources of the future. By 2030, the share of renewable energies in gross electricity consumption should be 80 percent. With an installed capacity of 215 gigawatts by 2030, photovoltaics should make an important contribution to this," explains Robert Habeck. But a lot of work is still needed to achieve this.
The German government has already introduced various measures to promote the expansion of renewable energies. These include increasing tendering volumes, adjusting remuneration rates and removing regulatory barriers. The new PV strategy now aims to remove the remaining barriers. Implementation of the strategy will begin immediately after its publication.
