The real estate industry is facing new challenges from cyber attacks. This is shown by a study conducted by KPMG and the German Property Federation (ZIA). It shows that although 93% of companies in the sector consider cybersecurity to be important, only 51% have a corresponding strategy. Above all, there is a lack of specific protective measures for building technology. Only 20 percent of companies stated that they had taken security precautions in this area.
According to the ZIA, the study results show that cybersecurity is important in order to protect the digital infrastructure. The Deputy Managing Director of the ZIA, Aygül Özkan, points out that the active involvement of the management level is essential in order to make the entire company resistant to cybercrime.
Aygül Özkan also emphasizes that the human factor must not be neglected as a potential gateway for cyber attacks. Comprehensive risk awareness and regular employee training are therefore of great importance in order to increase security.source and further information: zia-deutschland.de
