Survey: 2/3 of Germans are drawn to the country

More and more Germans are thinking about moving to the country. This is the result of a current online survey conducted by Innofact AG on behalf of ImmoScout24 among 1,000 respondents. The online survey shows that two out of three respondents (63 percent) have already toyed with the idea of moving to the countryside. It is more men (66 percent) who are drawn to a rural region than women (almost 60 percent). In terms of age groups, 18 to 29 year olds and 30 to 39 year olds in particular are thinking about this step.

But what do the respondents expect from a move to the country? Those responsible also determined this in the online survey. 72 percent of those surveyed stated that they expected more peace and quiet as a result. In addition, 2/3 of those surveyed like the proximity to nature and 63 percent like the opportunity to have a garden. In addition to the provi- sions, however, the respondents also identified a number of disadvantages. These include longer commutes to work, fewer shopping opportunities and fewer cultural offerings.

According to those responsible, the results of the online survey also match other data from ImmoScout24. These show, among other things, that the demand for single-family homes rose by more than 31 percent from January 2020 to January 2022. Condominiums are also in greater demand (+ 20 percent). In addition, it has become increasingly important for buyers of condominiums in the past two years to have a balcony (+ 19 percent) or a garden (+ 23 percent). Those responsible attribute these developments to the corona pandemic.
